Making Lists

Everyone has their own ways of making sure they get things done.  Mine is to make lists.  Lots of them.  Lists about lists.  If I don't have one, I flounder.  I drift off topic and wander around aimlessly wondering what to do with myself.  I haven't always used lists though - it's a pretty new thing in my life and I don't know what I did without them.  Oh that's right - I didn't!  I was totally unorganised, and funnily enough always stressed!!

I started small, I made lists (some of them mental, some of them written down) for the housework, the kids, the shopping list.  Life became that bit easier to manage.  It also became Very Boring.  I don't do routine and structure all that well.  I like a bit of spontenaiety and adventure!  My husband is a big list maker.  His task list for his work makes my head hurt just looking at it, but on the personal front, his list has another name.  GOALS.  We have been together for 12 years now, and I haven't known him to miss a single one on his checklist.

I realised that I had serious List  Envy.  I needed to have one for myself.  To make sure I could check off those things that were just for me and I knew I had to do to make me feel better.  So far the things I have ticked off are:

Get fit and healthy
Relax at a health retreat for a weekend
Not be so grouchy with the kids (I gave up coffee - worked for me!)
Write (Yay Blog!)
Start going to yoga
Live a simpler life

Most of these are still in progress and require maintenance, but having started them makes me feel very proud of myself.  There is still a whole pile of Things I Want to Do, but the even more exciting part is that I add new ideas every day and I can't wait to keep ticking them off.

Love and Sunshine,
